UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. It is crucial to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

The handle can be placed and angled to fit all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors with latches which can be operated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset spindles or inline (pad). Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is vital. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, exterior doors should be fitted with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect an attack and protect your door.

There are cylinders that are made to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and more straightforward than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located within the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. These handles used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple feature is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, as these are not always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles and hinges. They are available as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
