Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's useful remote features. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even locate it via an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Place a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then gently pull it up.

Unlocking the Doors

Hold your key fob with Volvo logo facing upwards, and unlock or lock the manual lock. Find the black button which is near the edge of the body of the key fob, and gently press it to open a cover that houses the manual key blade. The cover can be turned clockwise using a flathead, or coin.

Beginning the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide a level of convenience and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, just like any other battery-powered electronic device key fobs can be depleted of its charge or cease working over time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace its battery.

You can activate this feature using the key fob in case your car is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The vehicle will then cool or heat to the same temperature it was set at when it was parked, and will continue to run for a maximum of 15 minutes.

Take off the back cover of the key fob with your fingernail. A button is located underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. You can remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will come free and slide away, revealing the manual key blade! If you are still unable to locate the button, look around the newly exposed manual key access to determine whether there's a secret slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the features that is hidden that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to lower all windows at once by using the fobs. This is very useful when trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.

To unlock the windows, press and hold the unlock button on your VOLVO truck key remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, if you have one. When you're done with your car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.

You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car by using the key fob. This will make an ominous sound that will draw attention and deter thieves. It also helps you get home safely even if you've been out for the night. This feature is helpful if you reside in a hazardous area or you want to ensure your family's safety when you are away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is stuffed with many useful features. These are great when you have your hands full with shopping or helping your kids pack their sports equipment after a workout.

For instance, if have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped), you can open it by using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it using the same button.

Use the key fob whenever you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't be worried if your battery is dead or if the car doesn't start because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is just one of many useful trick for your brand new volvo excavator key.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a great deal of convenience over a traditional mechanical car key. They're not always perfect and batteries can be dead. If you're in a hurry, or aren't keen on going to a store to have your key fob reprogrammed you can make it work at home.

Find a clean surface and lay out your key fob, battery and extra keys. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing upwards and then find a small black button at the left side of the fob and slide it down and to the right. The cover will fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade beneath.

You can open all the doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. The lock button will also close the windows and sunroof (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Connect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should contain a procedure to reset the alarm.
