Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S robot vacuum is among the cheapest self-emptying vacuums that are available. In our tests it was able pick up dry oats on hard floors as well as low pile carpeting. The dust bin opens and empty quickly, making it much easier to use than other models in its price.

It charges at its base and then begins cleaning as soon as it's ready. Its obstacle-avoidance tech gets tangled in cords and socks and it can't get under low thresholds.

It also comes with an easy-to-use remote control to operate and you can schedule daily cleaning routines with the app. The battery can last for about an hour and the bin is easy to empty by taking it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 maxV Ultra

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot mop and vacuum is an excellent robot with an array of amazing features for automation. The Roborock S7 MaxV comes in three different versions that include the basic S7 model and the S7 Plus model and the S7 Ultra. Only the latter has an Empty Wash Fill Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its original location and empty the debris it has collected into a dust bag or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 work in tandem to clean and eliminate obstacles. It can identify flooring types and save a map for rooms and zones. It can even detect dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and carrying out spot-cleaning sessions. It did well in our standard tests, but it didn't exactly match the Roomba j7+ during the carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 by using the companion app to run a cleaning cycle according to your schedule. You can specify a time either day or week, as well as select from a variety of cleaning options, such as eco, automatic, and deep clean. You can also decide whether the robot should stop if it runs out of power or comes across an obstacle.

If you don't own an iPhone but you can still use the S7 by connecting a remote control to its charging dock. Shark isn't as well-known for robot vacuums as iRobot and Roborock, but our experience with this model has proven it to be one of the Best Robot Mop Self Cleaning self-emptying robot vacuums on the market. It's simple to set up, comes with a huge bin that is easy to empty (albeit a bit loudly) into a trash bin when it's full and can be programmed to complete a whole-home clean on a regular basis or as required.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home which allows you to keep track of its cleaning progress from the Shark app. The app lets you program cleaning schedules, get notifications by push regarding its current status as well as the ability to pause and resume cleaning, or limit it to one room. It is able to remove many messes on carpeted floors and does a decent job at maneuvering itself however it isn't as close to achieving the same performance as the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of performance on carpeted floors. The i7 is also better-built, feels more durable and robust, has lower maintenance requirements, incurs lower monthly costs, and is faster to charge, and offers comparable battery performance, and comes with far more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the capability to select certain rooms to be cleaned.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot vac/mop combination is a rare beast, as it does both jobs extremely well. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the smarts and features of its j7 equivalent, including LiDAR map and self-emptying. However, it also has additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ makes use of the new acoustic sensor to identify the floor type and allows it to mop or vacuum the room in its first attempt. This information can also be used to prioritize cleaning rooms with carpets or rug versus those with hard flooring.

As with most robotic vacuum cleaner self emptying vacuums the j7+ is relatively quiet when it's running, and much quieter when mopping. The maximum reading of 64db on our decibel scale is comparable to normal office chatter.

You can easily set up an cleaning schedule and then change the way that dust is cleaned when the canister fills. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and others. The app allows you to create and view maps in your home.

The j7+ performed well in our tests on carpeted and hard floors, removing most of the dirt we tossed at it. It has a hard time dealing with pet hair, large debris and sand. But it is able to clean them with a little more effort. It also has good navigation capabilities, as well as a set of cliff sensors to stop it from falling down the stairs or stumbling on furniture legs.

We did discover a couple of small niggles with the j7+. These include that it can get caught on rugs and cords and that it doesn't always turn off its mopping when it's finished vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent product that ticks all the right boxes.
