    1. Engine Speed Sensor

    It is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using the grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

    The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

    If this sensor fails the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

    It's a bit tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when it is operating at its maximum. If you are having problems with this component, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

    2. Injectors

    Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were drenched with gazoline the 4th one was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is in another place.

    I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in, but still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.

    I don't know what to do. I think I've ruled everything else out. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

    3. Fuel Pump

    The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and both are used in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

    4. ECU

    Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions about fuel injector timing etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this.     5. Tachometer
