French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door refrigerators blend functionality and form. They feature elegant double doors that open to reveal the large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer below. Special features like door-to-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the crowd.

We asked Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect, and the founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right home. They considered storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other features.

Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is targeted at people who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. This refrigerator has it all including the Keurig K cup coffee maker on the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator costs a premium, I expect higher quality.

Apart from that minor flaw, this fridge is a great choice. It has a huge freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds a lot of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on par for an French door fridge that costs this much. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker that is tucked away in the left door, though it isn't the largest I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting is an appealing touch. The storage bins in the door include a third shelf that can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, however I found their textured plastic coatings to be a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in world, and offers a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when your fridge or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be great if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allow users to set how many cups they want to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown timer to display how much water is left however it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch french door fridge on sale-door Refrigerator is a striking piece. It's designed to look like a seamless piece in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and two compressors to preserve food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient and makes the shape of a pyramid using only water. This fridge is ideal for a small household or kitchenette that needs an attractive design and top of the highest quality food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for a few reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving more than a fraction one degree. This is crucial in preventing freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the initial temperature within an hour and remained at the temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is a household name for its high-end appliances. It's therefore no surprise that the Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. The app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely on your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, but it offers great features and capabilities for the cost.

It is crucial to be aware of the limitations of your fridge. It has a narrow space for shelves, so you may have to think creatively when it comes to storing large items. The shelves aren't resistant to spills and are easily damaged or stained by sharp items. It's easy to remove the trays from the fridge However, be sure to keep them clean to avoid mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage space into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features a standard French Door Fridge freezer 60cm-door layout with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door, two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of sleeker drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer to store deli items and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the frozen ice as needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers that can help you to organize the place of your items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It allows you to control the fridge's temperature and lighting via your smartphone. It's an easy way to monitor your refrigerator and control it, especially when you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge than other refrigerators we tried. This could be due to its greater capacity.

The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the benefits of a french door fridge with ice maker and water dispenser-door fridge's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for counter-depth models and what is the shortest french door refrigerator able to cool evenly. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door fridge no freezer door fridge that doesn't cost you a fortune this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually as other models, but it has enough features that make it a great pick. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you use the majority of the refrigerator's cooling power to this area so that you can keep food items which need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider located outside the drawer. It is also possible to use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the whole fridge, however, I've found that changing the generic settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

During my tests, I found that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the fridge. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a pretty good performance, but it doesn't quite rank among the best in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise readings of your fridge's internal temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It is capable of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared to the glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
